The Police Emergency Call Centre known as 112 in Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazal State has arrested 59 gang groups during the New Year holidays in Wau.

The director of 112 in Wau Peter Mangang Manguen, confirms that 59 Gang Youth have been arrested during the joint patrols of the security units including a slave trade or human trafficking group.

“During our operation,  we manage to arrest  niggas and others are suspected to be niggas plus other night thugs  who were accused of killing people in Wau.”

Mangang said some of the gang youth were involved in a fight with the security forces and a breach of security will be filed to arrange their trial in court.

The Mayor of Wau Municipality, Paulino Said Uku, applauds the regular forces for maintaining order during the festive period and making people celebrate Christmas and New Year peacefully.

He appeals for continuity of the same work regularly to ensure citizens stay safe at their homes.

In South Sudan, several teenage boys and girls are moving in groups during the holiday period creating security alarms for the public although many said they cause no harm to the people.
