SPLM Secretary for Finance & Economic Affairs says Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD mediation will not usher peace to South Sudan until it changes mediation style.

Kuel Aguer Kuel tells the press that IGAD did not understand the root causes of South Sudan conflict, arguing the mediation only tackles symptoms with baseless proposals that do not answer the rationale behind the war.

He says the IGAD mediation is complex because it does not bring together warring parties especially the aggrieved SPLM/A in Opposition to explain why there is uprising in the country.

Secretary Aguer observes that IGAD is inconsistent in agenda setting as it shifts from one item to another without resolution.

The official says the only way to South Sudan peace is to listen to SPLM/A in Opposition leader Dr Riek Machar Teny and argue to agree on the justification of war and its resolution.

The SPLM Secretary for Finance & Economic Affairs made the statement during a public lecture on Thursday on peace and reconciliation under the moderation of political analyst Dr Luka Biong Deng.
