Researcher says Uganda, Sudan’ complicate South Sudan conflict

Sudd Institute, a Juba based research firm policy analyst reiterated that South Sudan conflict resolution challenges including inherent conflict within Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD shown by proxy wars is confusing peace efforts.
 
Zachariah Diing tells a public lecture in Juba that Uganda and Sudan proxy wars, interests and interference with peace mediation team must not be ignored as hindering factors for South Sudan peace deal.
 
The analyst says IGAD mediation of South Sudan conflict was politicized, citing interference by the regional bloc Heads of State summits amidst tough issues endangering their interests.
 
Uganda People’s Defence Forces or UPDF, SPLM-North and Justice Equality Movement or JEM and Chadian rebels are allegedly fighting alongside South Sudan government while Sudan government amidst denial is purportedly aiding SPLM/A in Opposition with firearms and military training.
