National Health ministry in partnership with global polio eradication agencies such as WHO, UNICEF, USAID and EU launched a massive national campaign in Malakal, Upper Nile State to vaccinate about 3.35 million children.

In a statement CRN obtained, Health Minister Dr Riek Gai Kok said ‘Ministry of Health is committed to reach every single unimmunized child in the country including children in the conflict-affected states’.

He said they would conduct four national rounds of vaccination this year beginning February 24-27, March 24-27 and November-December, 2015 to ensure all children under five years of age are vaccinated amid concerns that conflict and population displacement may be affecting coverage rates.

The statement added that the campaign would cover all parts of the country including the conflict areas where more than 1.2 million children remain unimmunized and vulnerable to wild polio virus infection.
