Western Bahr El Ghazal State Legislative Assembly members in an extra-ordinary meeting on Thursday unanimously appointed Mario Nyibang John as its new speaker.
The assembly casted a vote of no confidence to the former speaker Andrea Mayar Acho on Wednesday a move Acho said was unconstitutional and that he remains the house chief, Radio Voice of Hope reported.
The state assembly immediately proceeded to swear in the new speaker attended by most state cabinet members including the Acting Governor Zachariah Joseph Garang.
The Governor told the house that Mayar regime had jeopardized the unity among the MPs and the executive retarding government role in service delivery.
He said citizens high expectations are going to be addressed through collaboration of the new assembly.
Sources in the state assembly said the speaker’s office remains closed since Mayor Acho has never been convince by the votes.
Critiques said the parliament has lost truck and that it no longer represents people’s voices.
