Traffic Director in Rumbek, Lakes State vowed to continue detaining motorbikes without number plates until the owners complete legal procedures.
Captain Chol Arol told Good News Radio on Wednesday that the traffic police office discovered that motorbikes with no number plates caused many accidents in Rumbek town and was difficult to trace the owners.
Captain Chol said private and commercial motorbikes’ riders were given one week for the registration, but few people turned up for the exercise, calling on them to show up.
He accused the Gelweng of using unregistered motorbikes to commit crimes on roads.
Rumbek Traffic Office charges commercial motorbikes users’ with 300 South Sudanese Pounds and the private ones 200 Pounds.
