Two new Members of the Eastern Equatoria State Legislative Assembly appointed by the Governor to fill gaps created by death were sworn in to the Parliament.

Abdallah Lokeno and Grace Ihiju Tobs were sworn in by the State High Court Judge at the State Assembly, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Acting Speaker Paul Napwon explained that the selection of the two MPs was done through a consultation of electorate and SPLM County office before Governor Louis Lobong Lojore presented the names to the President of the republic for approval.

The Acting Speaker described Abdallah Lokeno as a former commissioner of Kapoeta, a former soldier, a spiritual leader and a respected person whom the community wanted to elect as a chief.

The acting speaker said Grace Ihiju was a candidate who contested on SPLM ticket in the last election.

Governor Lobong appointed the two MPs by a gubernatorial decree dated October 8, 2014 to fill vacancies created by the late MPs Irene Peter Paul and Mark Lokorai.
