Yambio County Relief and Rehabilitation Commission or RRC on Wednesday distributed tools and seeds to Internal Displaced Persons or IDPs in the area.

County RRC chairperson Jenty William Bangafu said 247 households received food assistance in the past three months and that each household was given one slather, rake, hoe and five kilograms of maize seeds from GIZ, Anisa Radio reported.

She advises IDPs to work hard and plant maize in the second planting season.

IDP representative Anna Michael lamented that the distribution of tools and seeds was too late because the best planting season for maize had already elapsed.

She appealed to the benefactors to provide other seeds like tomato, cabbage and beans that can do well in dry season.

The IDPs hailed from Juba following mid-December crisis that engulfed some parts of the country.
