Sudan’s Intelligence and Security Service arrested National Umma Party or NUP Deputy Chairperson Mariam El Sadig El Mahdi on her return to Khartoum after participating in the Paris, France conference.
NUP Secretary Sarah Noubella on Tuesday said the party’s delegation waiting Dr Mariam at Khartoum airport was srprised after all passengers came out from the flight which landed before midnight, but their deputy leader was not among them, Voice of Peace reported.
She explained that said security agent took Mariam to unknown location and her mobile phone was also turned off.
Ms Noubella said NUP Deputy Chairperson was involved in organising the first face-to-face meeting of the NUP and the Sudan Revolutionary Front leaderships.
She reported that NUP leader El Sadig El Mahdi said he would first visit Egypt before returning to Khartoum.
El Mahdi was previously detained by the Khartoum regime between May 17 and June 15.
