Yambio County Health Director on Friday disclosed that they received one hundred thousand and two hundreds mosquito nets from the Population Service International or PSI to be distributed to children and expectant mothers.

James Ezekiel Ndukpo said the mosquito nets would be distributed to children under five years and pregnant women in all five Payams, Anisa Radio reported.

He urged Yambio residents to ensure that they obtain the nets and always sleep under them to prevent mosquito bites because treating malaria is very expensive but the prevention is cheaper.

PSI Malaria Program Director Jennifer Kiden said at least three persons die with malaria every day in South Sudan.

She said the killer disease is a common concern for every person and that in Western Equatoria they will start with Maridi, Ibba, Yambio, Nzara, Ezo and Nagero Payams.

Ms Kiden urged authorities to strictly check for people who would take the nets to the market and use law to deal with them.
