Eastern Equatoria registers 690 cholera cases

Eastern Equatoria recorded 690 cases of cholera in different locations of the state in the last three weeks.
 
State Health Ministry Director-General Silvestro Omini revealed during a training of community health mobilizers that accumulated figure indicated 458 cases in Torit, 68 in Idali and 64 in Owinykibul of Magwi County, Emmanuel Radio reported.
 
He told community health mobilizers and staff to sensitize people to boil or chlorinate water before drinking.
 
Auma Sarah who facilitated the training urged members of the public to observe hygiene to prevent cholera and other waterborne diseases.
 
She also urged leaders to implement bye-laws on compulsory digging of pit latrines.
 
The State Health ministry organized the training in collaboration with Plan International, Torit Caritas, Norwegian Church Aid, Drop in Bucket and South Sudan Red Cross.
