Nuba Mountains Health Secretary revealed that children are prone to wet season diseases with measles reported among them in the region.

Mustafa Tutu Turkash told Voice of Peace that 26 cases of measles were confirmed in Yiral in April and spread to Saraf Jamus in Buram and west of Kadugli counties in May.

He added that other diseases included running nose, diarrhoea and that malaria appeared at the beginning of the rainy season.

Mr Tutu said they annually prepare a campaign to fight the diseases, advising communities to boil water before drinking and not to use contaminated water.
