Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD on Friday launched inclusive negotiations’ process bringing multiple stakeholders to discuss security and transitional government arrangements according to the June 10 warring leaders’ recommitment.
In a statement, IGAD said the inclusive negotiations would expedite and complete dialogue on the formation of a transitional government of national unity within 60 days.
The talks are expected to finalize modalities for the implementation of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement as re-affirmed on May 9.
The statement added that the multi-stakeholders’ negotiations would begin on a new political dispensation including parameters of a transitional governance agenda and arrangements for transitional government of national unity.
Stakeholders for the first time would include delegates of SPLM leaders formerly detained in Juba for alleged coup attempt.
Political parties, civil society and faith-based organizations representatives would also participate in the roundtable negotiations to resolve the crisis.
