Member of the national Parliament criticized the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba for establishing many parishes including Holy Trinity Parish within Juba City.
Cornelio Bepo Lodu during the enthronement of Holy Trinity Chapel to a Parish on Sunday, said many parishes are already within Juba, saying the new parish should be in Bungu not near St Kizito, St Joseph, St Theresa parishes, Bakhita Radio reported.
He complained that his people have the weakest Catholic Christianity requiring a Catholic Church close to them to avoid other denominations fishing them out.
MP Bepo added that the Catholic Church is developing rural areas and that people of Bungu, Digala, Kagwada and Kulipapa built their own churches calling on Juba Catholic Archdiocese to consider their efforts by establishing a parish in their area.
MP Bepo urged the Catholic Church leadership to follow politicians in promoting the late Dr John Garang’s vision of taking the town to villages.
Father Masseo Patrick of the Franciscan Friars and the Parish Priest of Holy Trinity expressed commitment to lead the new parish by engaging in catechists’ training and other development initiatives.
