A team of eye specialists from Christian Medical Aid or CMA and Light for the World is conducting eye operations for cataract patients in Rumbek Civil Hospital.
Clinical officer Joseph Deng Makur told Good News Radio on Tuesday that the medical team identified cataract as the common eye disease in Lakes and that they operated 164 patients.
He said they started by operating 20 patients per day but due to huge turn up they are now operating 30 daily targeting over 200.
The Clinical Officer revealed that the medical team will return in October to continue with operations of many patients left out in the first round.
Mr Deng said Rumbek Hospital opened an ophthalmology Department and that patients with eye problems can visit the facility instead of referring them to bigger hospitals outside the state.
CMA and Light for the World are providing free operations for patients with eye problems in Lakes State.
