South Sudan Nurses and midwives Association on Wednesday celebrated International Nurses and Midwives Day in Juba organized by the International Council of Nurses and Confederation of Midwives.
The Association head Sake Jemila said clinics and health other facilities would not work without nurses and midwives because they represent 75 to 80 percent of all health workers, Bakhita Radio reported.
She called on all nurses and midwives to strengthen their professional while working through education, management and other fields.
Ms Jemila appreciated her fellow nurses and midwives for hard work especially during the mid December crisis that started in Juba and spread to other states.
Practical and Quality Assurance Director in the State Health ministry Suzan Poni Dila advised the nurses and midwives to put on their uniforms while on duty.
She clarified that uniform is important because it can help patients easily identify nurses and midwives at the hospitals and clinics.
The occasion that was coloured with drama and songs started with procession.
