National Platform for Peace and Reconciliation, NPPR on Thursday welcomed the news of President Kiir and SPLM/A in opposition leader Dr Machar face to face meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, saying it would end the ongoing conflict.
A leading official of NPPR Chuol Rambang said the Platform appreciates IGAD, US Secretary of State John Kerry and UN Secretary-General Ban-Ki Moon for pushing rival leaders for direct talks, Bakhita Radio reported.
The Platform appealed to President Salva Kiir Mayardit and SPLM/A in opposition Dr Riek Machar Teny to take a historical duty to create peaceful conditions of living, economic development to end their killing and displacing war.
Mr Chuol described the meeting as a window of opportunity for peace and advancement in South Sudan.
The Platform for Peace and Reconciliation urged the political leaders to listen to voices of suffering citizens, crying for tranquillity, love, togetherness, forgiveness and compromise.
