King Martin Luther the third, the eldest son of Reverend Dr Martin Luther King Junior joined world bodies including United Nations, the African Union, IGAD, the European Union, governments and international organizations to call for an immediate end to violence in South Sudan.
King Luther ranks South Sudan conflict the worst in Africa, warning that if something is not done, the country would yet face the worst famine in the continent since 1980s.
He pointed out the humanitarian catastrophe can be avoided if the political will exists.
King Luther decried targeted ethnic killings, the use of rape as a weapon of war, and the brutalization of innocent civilians in hospitals, churches, mosques and at UN protected sites, calling for honour of Cessation of Hostilities Agreement without further violation.
The King pointed out that the only way to a stable, democratic and prosperous South Sudan is through an inclusive national dialogue.
He added that peaceful dialogue and political accommodation should begin across all ten states to resolve long standing grievances of all sorts.
King Luther said healing and reconciliation needs tolerance and an embrace of diversity.
He prays that God touches those who are making war and bring some comfort to those who are suffering only because of who they are.
King Luther expresses confidence that peace would prevail and that South Sudanese would arrive a democratic and prosperous promised land of their desire.
