Torit Public Prosecution Attorney pledged to eliminate illegal and prolonged detention of suspects in Eastern Equatoria State city of Torit.
John Wani made the pledge recently at capacity building training for justice stakeholders, aiming at ending prolonged and arbitrary detentions, Emmanuel Radio reported.
He said his office was working hard to honor rights of persons to freedom by eliminating unlawful detentions, adding that the public prosecutors uphold the principle of proof of guilt of an individual.
Attorney Wani advised police to speed up investigations, calling on accusers to follow up cases on suspects and give information to police as soon as possible.
He warned complainants who disappear immediately after the arrest of their suspects.
