Government negotiators arrived Juba on Tuesday, accusing Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD mediators for the failure of any progress in the second phase of peace talks in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Government spokesperson Michael Makuei Lueth told the press at Juba International Airport that IGAD mediators were proving obstacles to reach peace deal in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia instead of the opposition.
He said the government rejected IGAD’s inclusion of former detainees as third party to the negotiations.
The spokesperson blamed IGAD for putting the third party as a red line beyond which negotiations cannot proceed.
Mr Makuei insisted that the government wanted the opposition forces to give reasons for rebelling against a legitimate system, but the mediators did not reflect it in the agenda.
