Western Equatoria State paramount chief on Wednesday called on the national government to promote their old sons and daughters in the SPLA.
Chief Wilson Peni Rikito told Vice President James Wani Igga in Yambio that Western Equatorians in the army were not promoted, Anisa Radio reported.
He said Western Equatoria was ready to back up the mobilization of youths to join the army if their sons and daughters in the army would be promoted.
The paramount chief lamented that there was no single Major General or Brigadiers from Western Equatoria.
The former Governor of Western Equatoria State Patrick Raphael Zamoi urged the youths to take this opportunity and join the army to defend the nation.
Mr Zamoi encouraged Western Equatorians to support peace in South Sudan.
The two speakers were speaking during the public rally with the Vice President James Wani Igga on Wednesday at Yambio Freedom Square.
