Peacekeepers boost civilians’ security

United Nations peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS joint police and military patrols use metal detectors to protect some 65 thousand displaced civilians in UN compounds.
 
UN Police Commissioner Fred Yiga in a statement said there was regular meeting with South Sudan’s Police Inspector General and Central Equatoria Police Commissioner to address all security concerns.
 
The joint police search weapon at all UN bases including Juba, Bor, Bentiu and Malakal in Upper Nile state.
 
The statement disclosed that additional 63 UN police personnel arrived on Thursday bringing the total number of UNPOL reinforcements to 315.
 
Another group is due to arrive next Friday for immediate deployment in Juba, Malakal and Bentiu.
