The Citizen Newspaper Editor in Chief confirmed on Tuesday evening that he was arrested, detained for an hour and released on lawyer’s request.
Nhial Bol Aken told CRN on phone that he was charged with defamation of National Security by publishing a story about recent arrest of his journalists covering demolition in Juba Town.
He added that security complained that the story tarnished their image in the country.
Mr Bol said the case would be followed up on Wednesday.
The release came after intervention of the Citizen Publications Company’s lawyer.
