Central Equatoria State Girl Guides Association on Friday graduated 100 guides in its fourth batch in Juba.
Central Equatoria State Gender and Social Development Minister Mary Apayi Ayiga said the ministry would use the Association in the Girls’ go to school mobilization, Bakhita Radio reported.
She added that the government would work together with the guides to support vulnerable people in the state.
State Education Minister Hastin Yokwe said the training brought girls from different tribes together to promote nationalism.
He said the program should be extended to other parts of the state and the country.
South Sudan Girl Guides Association Chief Commissioner Mary Elias Lodu said the Association was already registered in the main Girl Guides office in London.
She urged parents to allow their children to come for training to reduce immorality in communities.
The Chief Commissioner said there are 9,500 guides in South Sudan with five hundred from Central Equatoria alone.
She cited uniform and training as major challenges of the Association.
