The National Bureau of Statistics or NBS on Thursday launched South Sudan Info Database in Yambio, Western Equatoria State.
NBS Social and Demographic Statistics Director Mark Otwari said South Sudan Info is available on CD and the website and it is accessible by everybody free of charge at www.devinfo.org/southsudaninfo, Anisa Radio reported.
He thanked UNICEF-South Sudan for their technical support in compiling the South Sudan Info Database.
UNICEF representative Steward Francis Kutiyote said he was happy because the database is free and accessible to everybody.
He lamented that the information is sophisticated and computerized and not all people are computer literate.
State Statistics Director Aggrey Masale urged all to utilize the database for decision making and implementation to realize development in the country.
State Minister for Information Charles Barnaba Kisanga described the South Sudan Info Database as a big achievement for NBS and the country.
He added that data dissemination was very important for accurate planning of both the government and international agencies.
South Sudan Info is an adaptation of Devinfo technology, a UN database for monitoring human development according to the Millennium Development Goals.
