The United Nation Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS in Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazal, on Friday donated food items to 362 Agok residents suffering from leprosy.

The donation was part of the UN Day celebration, Voice of Hope reported.

UNMISS State Coordinator Osman Dogar said the items included flour, sugar, clothes and other food items.

He expressed the UNMISS’ commitment to support the Agok community through its agencies and other NGOs in the country.

Mr Dogar called on the committee in charge to fairly distribute the items.

Medical doctor Thomas Aleu Charles appreciated UNMISS donation as a gesture to promote love to the Agok people.

He said Agok has 362 leprosy patients and that the items would be distributed to them fairy.

Dr Aleu urged citizens to help people who have no access to food.

The donation to the tune of 25 thousand South Sudanese Pounds was a joint effort of Chinese peacekeepers, Kenyan battalion and UN civilians.
