The President of the Republic strongly condemned the Sunday killing of civilians in Twic East County of Jonglei State by armed groups operating in the area.
In statement issued on Thursday, Salva Kiir Mayardit deeply regretted the senseless killing of 79 innocent civilians including women and children and other 78 injured.
He expressed sincere condolences to the bereaved families on behalf of the government and the people of South Sudan.
President Kiir directed relevant authorities to provide necessary humanitarian intervention to victims of attacks.
He also directed relevant authorities to immediately investigate into the incident and bring the culprits to book.
The President reaffirmed his commitment to peaceful resolution of all sorts of conflicts and maintains amnesty for all armed groups including David Yau Yau.
