United Nations and partners distributed food and non food items to 55 thousand people displaced by conflicts in Jonglei state.
UNOCHA spokesperson Jens Laerke said the UN and other agencies distributed food, water jerry cans, soap, fishing equipment and blankets.
He lamented that aid distribution was made difficult by the extremely poor road conditions and insecurity in the state.
The spokesperson said OCHA is managing UN Central Emergency Response Fund to scale up the humanitarian response of six million dollars to help agencies bring relief to affected communities in Pibor County.
SPLA military offensive against David Yau Yau’s insurgency earlier this year displaced 75 thousand people.
Insecurity was compounded in July by inter-communal violence between the Lou Nuer and Murle communities.
