Juba City Council authority is training its councillors on legislation to equip them with skills for smooth running of their affairs.
The training was organised under the theme: ‘Building effective legislators’, Bakhita Radio reported.
Juba City Legislative Councillors chairperson Michael Allah Jabu said the training was aimed at giving councillors basic legislation knowledge to raise motions and deliberate on important issues.
Deputy Mayor Hakim Deng said there is need for coordination between Juba City Council and Local Government authorities.
Mr Hakim urged participants to put the knowledge they got into practices.
Central Equatoria State Parliamentarian Affairs Minister John Malish said it was good to professionalize councillors at the county level.
He added that the training will teach councillors the three legislative roles.
Juba City Legislative Council in collaboration with the state Parliamentarian Affairs ministry organised the training.
