A senior journalist was interrogated by the Police in Juba for eight hours before being released.

Juba Monitor editor-in-chief Alfred Taban told CRN that he came from Nairobi on Saturday and heard that the police issued an arrest warrant against him.

He reported to the police station near Juba Prison on Monday.

Mr Taban said he was interrogated during eight hours by the Police Investigation Department for publishing a statement from the Bul Community.

He explained that the statement accused the deputy Interior minister of involvement in the killing of a Traffic Police from the Bul community.

Mr Taban added that the police said the newspaper did not commit any offense by giving the community a chance to express its opinion.

The Police arrested Juba Monitor Managing editor Michael Koma on Thursday over the same issue.

He was bailed out on Sunday.
