South Sudan Workers Trade Union Federation called on the Government to unify the salary structure of employees across the country.

Simon Deng Buljack, who chairs the Federation, told the attendance during Labour Day celebration on Wednesday in Juba that national and states workers should be paid equally, Bakhita Radio reported.

Mr Deng lamented that workers in the national Government received more allowances and bigger salaries than state employees.

He added that all employees at various levels of governments should be treated equally because South Sudanese fought for justice and equality for more than 20 years.

Mr Deng urged the national ministry of Public Service and Human Resources to address the issues of pensioners and social insurance.

He asked state governors and governments to stop interfering with the workers’ unions activities.

National Labour, Public Service and Human Resources minister assured the Federation that all their demands would be fulfilled once the parliament approved the Labour Bill.

Hundreds of workers marched from the University of Juba Roundabout to Nyakuron Cultural Centre to celebrate the International Labour Day on Wednesday.
