A senior journalist called on media practitioners not to give up the profession over harassment and intimidation.
Union of Journalists of South Sudan or UJoSS Deputy Secretary for State Affairs Bullen Kenyi told Bakhita Radio that journalists should not run away from the hardships of journalism but inform citizens.Mr Kenyi said those who threaten journalists are working for individual interests unlike the journalists who work for public interest.
He advised media practitioners to uphold media principals recognized worldwide.
Mr Kenyi explained that the World Press Freedom Day is important because it reminds the public about the role played by journalists and their safety.
The Union official said journalists gathered together at the end of the day to share experiences and show their commitment to continue serving the citizens of this country.
Mr Kenyi asked the Parliament to speed up the approval of three key media laws.
