The authorities of Ri Yubu Payam in Tombura County of Western Equatoria reported that armed men from Central African Republic crossed to South Sudan.

Ri Yubu Payam Administrator Estaslawo Anicento Mariba told Anisa Radio that on Friday one arrow boy named Lino Zachariah saw seven well-armed men in military uniforms coming through the bush.

Mr Mariba said the government deployed soldiers, police, wildlife and arrow boys in the Payam to follow the suspects through the bushes, but no confrontation occurred and the gunmen disappeared again into Central African Republic.

He stated that with the current government of Seleka rebels, it was difficult to identify if the men were rebels, from the army, UPDF or the Lord’s Resistance Army.

The Payam administrator urged the State Government to be alert and deploy forces to the border areas especially in Ri Yubu Payam, three kilometres away from the border with Central African Republic.
