The head of the Sudan Council of Churches or SCC said in his Easter Message that the people of South Sudan, the Government and the Church were searching for peace, freedom, justice and welfare of all people created in the image of God.

SCC Chairperson Michael Taban Toro wrote that it was imperative and critical that a process of national healing from the trauma of long suffering be allowed to happen.

He said the country witnessed the culture of violence and killings in most states both in towns and in rural areas and such insecurity was threatening socio-economic and political life.

Bishop Taban said forgiveness and reconciliation were a necessity in any post war situation.

He appealed to preachers and teachers in all churches in South Sudan to include messages of healing and reconciliation during the Holy Easter season and beyond.

Bishop Taban urged all the Christians to pray for healing for the people of South Sudan to allow true reconciliation to succeed.
