A senior SPLM member said on Friday he raised unofficial concerns to AU ambassadors following attacks in Mile 14 and Kiir Adem border areas last week.
SPLM’s Information Secretary Bol Makweng told CRN that the members who were attending a workshop on negations in Addis Ababa raised their concerns to AU diplomats while interacting with them.He said they questioned the whereabouts of the AU Peace and Security Monitoring Unit that should have deployed in the area to monitor and stop border incidences against civilians.
Mr Makweng added that the ambassadors were brought to the workshop to give insights on negotiation issues and some of the members were able to raise the concerns.
Rizeigat Arab nomads took advantage of the withdrawal of SPLM forces from the border areas to raid animals and kill local police and civilians.
