A break-in in the administrative block of the Office of the President complex did not compromise the security of the President.
Sudan Tribune website reported on Wednesday that during the weekend robbers broke into the President’s Office getting away with some six million Pounds.The Office of the President issued a press release on Wednesday evening saying robbers took 176,196 Pounds and 14,000 US Dollars from the Accounts Office at the President complex.
The document explained that the money was meant to pay the salaries of junior staff who do not have bank accounts and to open a new addition to the complex.
It added that the safety of President Salva Kiir Mayardit was never compromised.
The Office of the President said an investigation is underway and additional security and safety measures were taken to ensure that the same type of incident was not repeated.
