The advisor for peace and reconciliation in Western Bahr El Ghazal warned citizens about the ongoing rumours about power wrangles within the SPLM leadership.

Efisio Kon Ugwak revealed that rumours spread that Vice-President Riek Machar Teny and SPLM Secretary-General Pagan Amum wanted to run for the presidency in the 2015 elections, Voice of Hope reported.

Mr Kon refuted the rumours.

He explained that any party member who wants to stand on an independent ticket must first resign from the SPLM.

He said the rumours were propaganda citizens must ignore.

Mr Kon stressed that there is no power or political struggle among the SPLM leadership and the cadres should pass this message to the grassroots.

Mr Kon made the comment on Wednesday at Western Bahr El Ghazal State Secretariat, while presenting the report on the peace and reconciliation campaign conducted in Wau Municipality after December’s deadly violence.
