Kajo Keji VOSCO or Voluntary Service Committee is fundraising for the construction of two major Irish crossings on Khor Jamus and Khor Limu rivers before the rains start in April.
A number of people died caught by flash floods on those dangerous river crossings along the Juba-Kajo Keji Road.VOSCO chairperson Alex Liki Ruben said the committee wanted to raise funds and material to build the two crossings to lessen loss of lives and properties.
He said the people of Kajo Keji expect a long term solution from the Government for the road.
Mr Liki said the community had already put together money and materials worth 200,000 Pound.
He called on well-wishers for support to make sure food produced in Kajo Keji reached Juba markets.
Presidential Advisor for Legal Affairs Telar Ring Deng said the construction of Kajo Keji Road should be done by the government but the austerity had affected the works.
He added that the move made by the Kajo Keji community showed commitment.
Mr Ring said President Salva Kiir Mayardit contributed 20,000 Pounds from his own pocket to the building of two critical Irish crossings in the Juba-Kajo Kaji Road.
