More than 30 Girl Guides on Saturday received training in Juba to foster gender and human rights advocacy.
Director for Gender in Central Equatoria State Lili Ismail Ludi said girls needed to be educated and empowered, Bakhita Radio reported.She decried that most parents consider their daughters as sources of income even engaging them into prostitution to bring money home.
Ms Ismail said education was very important because it could change life and the community setup.
She encouraged the Girl Guides to be committed to their studies.
The training was held to empower Girl Guides on the importance of education and dangers of early marriage.
Girl Guides Central Equatoria Commissioner Madam Marcelina Joseph was among the trainers.
