Central Equatoria head of Demolition Committee said the demonstration in front of the Governor’s office was illegal and the demonstrators should be jailed.

Dozens of people demonstrated in front of Central Equatoria Secretariat on Thursday morning causing a huge traffic jam following the demolition of Durupi area around Jebel market in Juba.

David Lokonga Moses told CRN that the demonstrators received plots in K√Ö¬°r√Ö¬°k as compensation when their houses that were demolished sometimes in 2010 and 2011.

He added that the people returned to Durupi because they wanted to grab more land to sell and for that reason they should be arrested and taken to court because they were confusing people.

He said that plots sales should be outlawed to stop land grabbing.

Mr Lokanga explained that more than 3,240 plots were prepared in K√Ö¬°r√Ö¬°k for the people whose houses were demolished in Durupi.

He explained that the Durupi area was already demolished three times but the people keep on returning to the place.

Mr Lokanga said the area was distributed in 2009 but the owners of the plots could not move in because other people settled there illegally.
