The Catholic Bishop of Yei said land grabbing is a rampart activity that is hindering development.

Bishop Erkulano Lodu Tombe said on Sunday that land grabbing and reselling of land, including church land, was a common activity in South Sudan, Radio Easter reported.

He called upon top government officials to respect the chiefs because they were the first administration during the struggle and they are the only administration closer to the people at the grassroots.

Jumbo sub chief Faustino Aligo warned people who are building in the plots of the church to leave the plots free.

Bishop Lodu made these statements in St Mary’s Chapel, Yei, on Sunday.
