The ministry of Telecommunication and Postal Services has warned officials who charge fees for SIM card registration and asked clients not to come with expired ID documents.
Deputy Minister Beatrice Khamisa Wani told Bakhita Radio that her office received information that some registrars were charging fees for SIM cards registration.She said the registration is free of charge and no official should charge subscribers any registration fee.
Mrs Khamisa also warned subscribers with expired identity documents that their SIM cards would not be registered.
She urged South Sudanese and foreign nationals who hold expired documents to renew them before turning up for SIM card registration.
The Ministry of Telecommunication and Postal services extended SIM card registration for another full month until February 28.
The ministry warned that anybody who did not register within this period would have the SIM card deactivated because the Government cannot afford to extend the registration indefinitely.
