INTERIOR MINISTER APPOINTS DEPUTY COMMISSIONER FOR REFUGEES

The Interior Minister on Thursday issued a ministerial order appointing John Dominic Dabi as Deputy Commissioner for Refugees Affairs.

Alison Manani Magaya issued another order forming the National Aliens Committee.

The 11-member committee is chaired by the Police Inspector General and the undersecretaries of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Humanitarian Affairs are among its members together with the Commissioner of Refugees Affairs.

Other members are the Director-Generals of Central Intelligence Department, External Intelligence Bureau, Internal Affairs Bureau and Nationality Immigration and Passport together with the Legal Advisor of the Ministry of Interior and any member the Ministry will include in the future.

The committee is charged with studying and setting a strategy for the policy of immigration and socioeconomic disadvantages of immigration.

The committee will also study a policy for collecting a database and registering all aliens entering and residents in South Sudan.

It will look into complains and cases of deportation before they reach the Minister for final decision.

The ministerial order is effective from February 1, 2013.
