A Salesian of Don Bosco from Vietnam was ordained to the priesthood in Maridi, Western Equatoria, on Thursday during the feast of St John Bosco.
Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala Tombura-Yambio ordained Deacon Paul Tung to the priesthood, Anisa Radio reported.The bishop told the Christians of Manguo and Maridi who came to witness the ordination of the young Vietnamese that they should go and give services and the Good News to other communities like Fr Tung did.
ECS Bishop Justin Badi of Maridi was also present at the ordination. He told the priests that attending an ordination reminded them of their own.
He said the priesthood was a ministry of sacrifice and difficulties and attending the ordination was a sign of encouragement to all priests present.
Bishop Badi urged Christians to encourage, help, care and respect their priests so that they are happy to do the work of the Lord.
Fr Tung thanked the crowed who attended his ordination and promised to pray for them.
Two dozens of priests took part in the ordination together with a big crowd of believers in Manguo Parish-Maridi.
The event ended late in the evening when the rain came.
