The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Torit on Tuesday marked 24 years of his ordination to priesthood.

Johnson Akio Mutek said he was ordained a priest in 1988 at St. Theresa’s Cathedral Kator in Juba by Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro.

He expressed his joy and thanks to God for having kept him and his colleagues in the ministry for the last 24 years, Radio Emmanuel reported.

The Bishop admitted that there have been several challenges in the ministry that can only be defeated through prayers.

Akio acknowledged the prayers of Christians towards his health and encouraged them to extend similar prayers to the priests for strength to perform their duties.

He called on Christians to develop forgiveness and show love amongst one another.
