The Cardinal of Nigeria has commended the centenary celebration on December 12 in Mupoi Parish of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura/Yambio as very well organized.
John Onaiyekan told CRN that the people of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura/Yambio were made to realize that the 100 years of faith was worth celebrating.He said the Christians took the centenary as a spiritual journey and a clear pilgrimage as they moved to Mupoi on foot.
Cardinal Onaiyekan explained that everyday of the six days centenary celebrations; there was a major mass which was concentrating on a particular aspect of the celebrations.
He said people were camping around Mupoi Parish and when the bell rang, in a few minutes time, the Church was full of people.
Cardinal Onaiyekan expressed impression on the big number of people in the Mupoi Parish and that what he saw in Mupoi did not happen in Nigeria.
He said the people were really moved by faith and that thousands of people cared for themselves some did not eat much because they considered fasting as part of their spiritual journey.
Cardinal John Onaiyekan was speaking in Juba after returning from Mupoi in Western Equatoria State before leaving Juba for Abuja, Nigeria.
