The US envoy to South Sudan and Sudan has expressed his discouragement over delay in the implementation of the cooperation agreement signed on September 27 between the two countries.

Princeton Lyman told reporters in Juba that if implemented, the cooperation agreement would provide better life for the citizens of both countries because the agreement would provide conducive environment for oil production and trade between the two states to resume.

Mr Lyman said Khartoum’s new demands were complicating the implementation of the agreement.

He hopes that Saturday’s joint political and security mechanism meeting in Addis Ababa would resolve the problem once and for all.

Khartoum demanded South Sudan to disarm rebels in the Sudanese territories of Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile.

South Sudan rejected, saying that Khartoum’s demand is impossible mission to undertake.

The join political and security mechanism resumes in the Ethiopian Capital Addis Ababa, under the supervision of the AU High implementation panel.
