The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Torit has called on the citizens to protect crime witnesses.

Johnson Akio Mutek said the revenge activities will reduce when witnesses of criminal activities are protected and treated fairly.

He lamented that many criminal activities have gone unreported due to the issue of fear of security of the witnesses.

He added that the delays in follow up have made criminals killed innocent people in the society.

Bishop Akio appealed to the Government to fasten the follow up of criminal activities and bring the criminals to book without being bribed or favouring the suspects.

The Bishop urges the state Government to promote peaceful co-existence in the society by providing equal services.
