A public health official in Rumbek has urged the community to put hygiene and sanitation first in their homes to avoid getting diseases.

James Magok urged the community to take part in cleaning their estates because during the winter season many diseases affect people especially the children, Good News Radio reported.

He advised parents to take a good care of their children by cleaning them to avoid getting dangerous diseases like trachoma that seriously affects unclean eyes.

Magok told the community that hygiene and sanitation need collective responsibility.

He urged the intellectuals of Rumbek to use their knowledge for keeping their vicinity clean and so that their societies imitate from them.

Public health activities in Rumbek are always face challenges while discharging their duties.
