The Government of South Sudan expressed concern over the latest incidents between Miseriya and Dinka-Ngok groups that increased tension in Abyei.
On Monday, over 30 Misseriya people came to Abyei and went to the mosque for prayers, causing some tension in the local Dinka-Ngok young.The Ethiopian peacekeepers took the visitors to their compound and on Tuesday one Abyei resident serving with the force was killed in circumstances that were not clear and another two were wounded.
Luka Biong, who co-chairs the Abyei Joint Oversight Committee, called the incident regrettable and provocative.
He said the Government of Sudan sent the Misseriya group to disrupt the return of the Dinka-Ngok people to their homelands in Abyei.
Dr Biong added that the Government of South Sudan remained determined to implement the agreement for the temporary administration and security of Abyei proposed by the African Union mediators.
He announced that the Abyei Joint Oversight Committee meets on Thursday to take the necessary measures to establish the temporary Abyei administration.
The African Union told South Sudan and Sudan to resolve the final status of Abyei until December 5.
